Fort Bend MUD 131 Hiring a Part-Time Groundskeeper

The Fort Bend Municipal Utility District No. 131 is looking to hire an employee to oversee the maintenance and custodial needs of the District’s parks and facilities. This position will be under the supervision of the General Manager as a part-time employee from Monday through Friday, 7AM to 12PM.

Job Title: Groundskeeper

Hourly Rate: $21.00 – $25.00 (depending on qualifications and experience) .

Schedule: Monday through Friday / 7AM to 12PM Part-time (flexible)

Location: 406 Southern Colony and 8211 Obsidian Ct (main park and pocket park)

Knowledge: District organization, operations, policies, and procedures. Parks building maintenance and repair operations. Basic maintenance and repair methods and procedures with plumbing system, electrical system, concrete, and fence installation.

Job Description:

  • Maintains a preventative maintenance program that extends the life of park facilities while minimizing future repairs.
  • Conducts inspections of parks and recreation facilities to determine the need for maintenance or repairs.
  • Cleans restrooms, driveways and power washes facilities/sidewalks.
  • Performs electrical work for parks.
  • Replaces or repairs damaged locks or doors.
  • Perform minor plumbing repairs.
  • Performs concrete repairs; sets up forms for concrete slabs and sidewalks; repairs and patches brick walls.
  • Installs and/or repairs wire and/or wood fences.
  • Performs minor maintenance on maintenance equipment.
  • Cleans gutters.
  • Paint/touch-up paint the facilities
  • Installation/building of materials purchased for the district
  • Attend board meetings upon requests.

Additional Duties:

  • Supports the relationship between the District and the public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with residents, visitors, and staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and District information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
  • Supports special events by setting up, tearing down and other miscellaneous duties.
  • Employees may at any time be required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the general public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services, in the event of an emergency.
  • Assists in tree cleanup work after storms.

Requirements:

Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.

Requires (1) one year maintenance or closely related field experience.

Must be 18 years or older.

Valid Texas Driver’s License.

CPSI Certified

The District does not currently have a pending bond election.

Elections – Directors

The next election for the District will be held on May 4, 2024.

To be qualified to serve as a director, a person shall be at least 18 years old, a resident citizen of the State of Texas, and be a qualified property taxpaying elector of the precinct and county within the District.

Applications:

To run for election to the District’s Board of Directors, a person must file an application for a place on the ballot. The application must be filed with the Secretary of the District’s Board of Directors or his designated agent by mail, fax or in person. An application may be downloaded/printed from the website of the Texas Secretary of State at https://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/forms/pol-sub/2-21f.pdf.

  • Last day to file for place on May 4, 2024 general election ballot is by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024.
  • A person may run for election to the District’s Board of Directors as a write-in candidate and to do so must file a declaration of write-in candidacy. The declaration must be filed with the Secretary of the District’s Board of Directors or his/her designated agent by mail, fax, email or in person. A declaration form may be downloaded/printed from the website of the Texas Secretary of State at https://www.sos.texas.gov/elections/forms/pol-sub/2-23f.pdf
  • Deadline to file write-in candidacy declaration for May 4, 2024 general election is by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.
